About We Bike Tuscany

We Bike Tuscany offers small group and private fully-guided multi day tours in Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Sicily, the Dolomites and beyond. Though now based in the US, we were "born" in Italy (as I Bike Tuscany), and pride ourselves on remaining one of the few truly "boutique" bike tour companies of the region. And as the term implies, that means personalized service and attention to detail, as well as an experience that, we think, is just a little more special, a little more authentic and definitely different from the others.

After working as a television writer for many years, Jodie Scholz finally gave in, chucked her glamorous Hollywood lifestyle and partnered with (now husband) Marco Vignoli (of I Bike Tuscany fame) to form We Bike Tuscany. She now devotes herself full time to her real passions: travel, biking, food, wine and Italy!

Her knowledge and love of the country, along with her tireless and never ending quest for that one of a kind, extra-special ristorante or trattoria, extra-special inn or hotel, and extra-special, extra-unique excursion, made for a natural transition. She agrees that in keeping our groups small we can go the extra mile in catering to our guests, while at the same time keeping alive the spirit of a true biking adventure with fun, spontaneity and - most importantly - the thrill of discovery. In her own experience, she found that with larger or more "corporate-feeling" group tours, these vital elements seemed somehow lacking, thus her commitment to "keeping it real" at WBT. It is our mission, after all, not just to meet and exceed every expectation, but to enthrall, inspire and excite. To make you feel as she did on her very first bike tour (with Marco!) all those years ago.

I Bike Tuscany

Florentine Marco Vignoli, a former bicycle racer and WBT co-owner, founded I Bike Tuscany in 2003. After years of working as a trip leader and manager in Italy for a number of American-based companies, he saw the need for something different. And that difference was combining first class comfort and service with a more authentically Italian feel. He envisioned an experience for his guests that would be just a little bit deeper, richer and even more memorable (not to mention fun) than your ordinary bike tour. To this day that vision lives on in both I Bike Tuscany (our single day tours division) and We Bike Tuscany (multi-day tours). And it remains his greatest joy to share the unique beauty, food, wine and culture of a land that above all others seems to be made for biking.

How we work

The first day of the tour you will be picked up either directly at your hotel in Florence or Piazzale Michelangelo if your hotel is in a pedestrian zone. We can also meet you at the Florence airport or train station. From there you'll be transfered with our van to the tour starting point. Since our groups are kept small (or even private) you will always be able to bike at your own pace, stopping whenever you wish for pictures, rest, lunch or simply to enjoy a breathtaking view. Tours are fully guided and van supported (except, of course, for Tuscany Self-guided). At trip's end you will be dropped at your hotel, Piazzale Michelangelo or the airport/train station/car rental back in Florence.
